Shane Mosley mentioned that he will work his best in order to battle with Manny Pacquiao. Aside from this aim, he also has to work his way to meet the required weight for the division. Mosley has utmost admiration for Pacquiao, mainly when he defeated Ricky Hatton by 2nd-round KO last month.
Freddie Roach, trainer of Pacquiao mentioned that he prefers the match as Mosley is one in his list. However, Roach would present his approval at a grasp weight between 140-147 pounds.
Mosley mentioned last Tuesday, June 2, 2009 that they were discussing about 143-144 target weight. The issue with Mosley who is now 37 is that he has not yet battled less than 146 ever since 1999 when he defeated John Brown in the concluding protection of his 135 pound title. After that he has battled with others with his weight of 147 pounds for 10 times, with 4 of it when he was precisely 154 pounds.
Mosley mentioned that he is currently weighing 160 pounds and the preferable official weigh maximum for him is 150, indicating that he should shed 6 pounds under his current weight. With that objective and due to his age and already lean physique, dropping down the weight would be a little complicated.
That is a lot for him to lose and even a single pound would make a huge difference. Given that, he is sure to do it. The solution is to shed a few pounds of his muscle. Mosley mentioned that he put up muscle mass by painstaking weight training during the past years which he recently deserted. However, he did reached 147 for his outstanding KO triumph against Antonio Margarito last January with no hassles.
Putting on some pounds is easier and lifting excess weights is not great for a boxer as for Mosley.
